Breast Augmentation

Dubai skyline background

Breast augmentation, boob job, breast aug, augmentation mammaplasty — there are a lot of different names that this procedure goes by. But whatever terminology is being used, its ability to provide people with the increased confidence makes it at the top of popular cosmetic procedure lists.

But if you are just starting to learn about different cosmetic breast procedures, breast augmentation is a surgery that increases the size or improves the shape of your existing breasts. This is often performed with implants, but fat transfer can be performed as well.

According to a recent report from The Aesthetic Society, more than 252,000 breast augmentations were performed throughout 2020, making it the second most popular cosmetic surgery currently performed.

Why Do We Need Breast Augmentations?

The breast are a symbol of femininity. Outside of breast augmentation, virtually nothing can be done about altering our breast sizes or shapes. Many people try to address the issue with underlying padding, but those methods don’t really solve the problem when it comes to swimsuits or lingerie.

We need breast augmentations because we want to feel confident in our appearance, and when there are no alternatives available, a safe, reliable way to improve your bust in the long term is a much-needed relief.

What Does Breast Augmentation Treat?

If your particular concern isn't listed, you may still benefit from breast augmentation or similar cosmetic surgery. The best way to find out is to schedule a consultation with our Dubai office.

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, can address any of the following concerns:

  • Insufficient breast size
  • Poor breast shape
  • Deflated breast volume (from pregnancy, aging or weight fluctuation)
  • Lack of upper breast contours
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Elongated breasts

Am I a Breast Augmentation Candidate?

  • Are physically healthy and have maintained an ideal weight
  • Have realistic expectations about the procedures and their results
  • Have breasts that have finished developing
  • Are not pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are free from preexisting conditions that pose surgical risks

How Should I Prepare for Breast Augmentation?

We recommend that every patient do thorough research to see if breast augmentation is proper for them. Take your time reading the accounts of patients and browsing before and after photos.

We try to let our patients know that they should keep a list of any questions or concerns they have about the process so that when they come in for their initial consultation with Biolite Aesthetic Clinic, they can get accurate and direct answers.

Having as much accurate and reliable information as possible will make you feel better about moving forward with the process. Getting information that is specific to your conditions is also very valuable.

During your consultation, one of our medical professionals will review your medical history, ask about your aesthetic goals and conduct a thorough physical examination. That information will then be used to create a specific treatment plan that is custom-fit to your needs.

We believe that every surgery or treatment should be as unique as the patients we see, so you need not worry about having a cookie-cutter approach taken to your appearance.

You will be given a list of instructions to follow in the days and weeks leading up to your breast augmentation. Those instructions should be followed closely since they directly affect your safety and results.

What Are My Breast Augmentation Options?

Breast augmentation is a highly customizable procedure. At Biolite Aesthetic Clinic Dubai, the surgeon will guide you to choose the most convenient breast augmentation approach for your case, implant size, shape and texture, as well as your incision and implant locations.

Implant Shapes

Silicone Implants — These are generally considered the current standard for breast augmentations since the silicone gel used in these implants feels more natural to the touch. Additionally, the implant does not collapse if the implant ruptures

Gummy Bear Implants — These implants use a much more rigid structure and filling to maintain their shape even when the implant lining is compromised. These implants come in many different shapes and sizes, offering the patient a wide variety of aesthetic options.

Round Implants — These are great options for people looking to have a uniform boost around the entire breast. Since they are perfectly symmetrical implants, there is less concern that they will slip out of place during recovery.

Implant Locations

Submuscular — Implant will be placed below the pectoral muscle, reducing the likelihood that rippling will occur but increasing the chances of implant rupture

Submammary —  Implant will be placed directly beneath the breast tissue, allowing for more projection and decreasing the likelihood of implant rupture.

Incision Locations

Periareolar — An incision made around the nipple, which easily conceals scarring but provides the least amount of access to the breast structure.

Inframammary — An incision made toward the bottom of the breast within the folds of the skin. This provides more access to the breast but slightly more noticeable scarring.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer is a breast augmentation method that is growing in popularity because of the natural and substantial results without the need for implants. This eliminates the possibility that your body will reject implants.

This procedure is performed in a two-step process. The first is the harvesting of fat from a targeted area on your body through liposuction. The removed fat is then purified and placed into your breast tissue for a more voluminous appearance.

The ability to improve the size of your bust while reducing unwanted fat in a different area of your body is a very well-received notion to some patients. Tackling both at the same time provides you with much more comprehensive improvements to your contours.

Can I Combine My Breast Augmentation with Other Procedures?

Breast augmentation is often combined with other procedures like tummy tucks, Mommy Makeovers, liposuction, abdominoplasty and body lifts. We recommend combining procedures as often as possible since they will save you time in recovery and money in surgical and facility fees.

Let one of our medical experts know if you are interested in having multiple procedures performed simultaneously.

What Other Breast and Chest Procedures Does Biolite Aesthetic Clinic Offer?

While many women desire breast augmentation to increase the volume of their breasts, others have opposite concerns and want to reduce the amount of breast tissue they have. Women may be bothered by the large size of their breasts, and men may be embarrassed about having overdeveloped female-like breasts.

At Biolite Aesthetic Clinic, we offer breast reduction surgery to reduce the size of female breasts and gynecomastia surgery to reduce the amount of tissue on the male chest.

Breast Reduction Surgery

If you have overly large breasts, you may experience physical and emotional discomfort due to your chest size. The weight of your breasts might pull down on your bra straps and create indentations in your shoulders. Heavy breasts can also cause rashes to develop beneath them as well as back and neck pain. This pain or the discomfort caused by your breasts bouncing may prevent you from partaking in athletic activities you enjoy or want to try. In addition, some women receive unwanted attention due to the large size of their breasts, and it can be hard to find tops and dresses that fit right without being too revealing.

Fortunately, there is a surgical option if you’d like to relieve the issues caused by your overly large breasts. Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, creates smaller, more manageable breasts that are more proportionate to your body.

How Is Breast Reduction Performed?

You have a few incision options for breast reduction that your doctor will review with you. In general, more extensive incisions are needed if you want to significantly reduce your breasts, while fewer incisions are used for more minor reductions.

An incision pattern in the shape of two concentric circles around the areolas (known as periareolar incisions) is used for removing smaller amounts of tissue. Another incision may extend vertically down your breast tissue from the bottom of the areola to the lower breast crease (inframammary fold) if needed to remove more tissue. A dramatic reduction of your breasts will require a final incision added along the inframammary fold.

Your surgeon will carefully remove excess skin, fat and glandular breast tissue through these incisions to create smaller breasts. Liposuction techniques may also be used if your breasts contain a lot of fatty tissue that contributes to their large size. Your breasts will be reshaped to be more compact, and the nipples and areolas can also be made smaller.

Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia is a condition characterized by overdeveloped breast tissue in men. It may appear in the form of excess fat and/or glandular tissue. If you have a large amount of these tissues, they may even stretch the skin on your chest and cause skin laxity. Your areolas may also stretch and increase in size.

Gynecomastia can affect you no matter how old you are, and it may affect just one breast or both. While there are various causes, it is most commonly a result of genetics, weight gain, changes in hormone levels or using certain drugs.

If you suffer from gynecomastia, you may be embarrassed to take your shirt off or wear tighter-fitting shirts that show the contours of your chest. This significantly limits your ability to do the things you want in life, such as enjoying your time at the beach or pool and even being intimate with a partner. It also limits your wardrobe options and can lead you to wear baggier styles than you’d prefer.

If you are bothered by the shape and size of your male breasts, gynecomastia surgery is a great option to consider for restoring more masculine chest contours.

How Is Gynecomastia Surgery Performed?

Gynecomastia surgery, also called male breast reduction, is a plastic surgery option for men who want a firmer, flatter chest. Enlarged or overdeveloped breasts can be corrected by various methods depending on the type of excess tissue in your chest.

If fat is the primary tissue type causing your female-like breasts, liposuction alone may be able to treat your condition. A small hollow tube is placed through tiny incisions and used to suction out the unwanted fat cells.

If you have enlarged glandular breast tissue, surgical excision is needed to remove it. Loose skin and enlarged areolas will also need to be surgically removed. The incision pattern for your surgery will be based on the type and location of your excess breast tissue, but the most common incisions are around the areolas or along the underside of the breast. These result in inconspicuous scars that blend well with the natural contours of the chest.
