At Biolite Aesthetic Clinic in Dubai, one of our experienced laser specialists will perform your treatment. Our trained practitioners are focused on you, first and foremost, and on providing you with first-rate results in the comfort of our modern office.
What Should I Expect at My Laser Hair Removal Appointment?
Once you have been greeted and shown to your treatment room, we will examine the treatment area and make sure you feel comfortable. To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair, a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment. Your laser technician will then guide the laser light from the device to the treatment area, moving the hand-held applicator over the entire treatment area.
How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Treatment Take?
Each treatment session will generally take less than an hour. The size of the treatment area and the laser device used will affect how quickly your treatment goes.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatment Sessions Do I Need?
Clinical studies have confirmed that at least three to six treatments are needed, and the intervals between treatments are typically one to three months.
Hair growth is cyclical, as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Follicles must be in the active growth phase (anagen phase) to be destroyed by the heat from the laser. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hair density, thickness, ethnic origin, hormonal status and age. That’s why it is necessary to repeat laser hair removal treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been through the growth phase.
For more details about the process and the number of sessions required, please call to book a complimentary consultation with our laser licensed nurse.
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Laser hair removal is generally considered a painless treatment. No anesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation of the laser as similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin. While tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person, the majority of patients say treatment is comfortable and not painful.
How Should I Prepare for Laser Hair Removal?
It is important not to remove hair by plucking, tweezing, waxing or using creams during the entire four weeks before treatment. This ensures that as many hair follicles as possible contain a hair and, thus, can be destroyed by the light.
Since tanning takes place by accumulation of pigment (melanin) in the skin, it is also important to avoid tanning (sun, solarium or self-tanning cream) before and during the treatment period. Otherwise, your tanned skin will absorb more light, which makes treatment less effective.
What Should I Do on the Day of My Treatment?
Be sure to shave the target area the morning of or the day before your treatment, leaving the hair no longer than 2 millimetres. Shaving removes the majority of hair but leaves a small portion in the follicle to absorb the laser energy. Cleanse your skin with soap and water, and do not use any lotion, deodorant or perfume on the area.
Do I Need to Take Special Precautions After Laser Hair Removal Treatment?
After laser hair removal treatment, we recommend refraining from intense workout routines, playing sports and using perfume for two days. Don’t take overly hot showers or baths for a couple of days, and avoid saunas, hot tubs and swimming pools with chlorine for three days. If you notice any redness or swelling, applying cold compresses can help alleviate these minor side effects.
Laser treatment will cause your skin to temporarily be more sensitive to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Avoid exposing the treated area to the sun for at least a week, and use a gentle, unscented sunscreen when you can’t avoid the sun.
When Will I See My Results?
You will notice thinner and fewer hairs within three weeks of each laser hair removal treatment session. With each treatment, you will notice a reduction in hair growth.
Can Laser Hair Removal Provide Permanent Hair Reduction?
es, these treatments can provide a permanent reduction of hair in the treated area(s). Patients can enjoy long-lasting smooth, nearly hairless skin.
However, this should not be confused with permanent hair removal, as we cannot guarantee that all of your hair follicles will never produce hair again. The majority of the follicles will be damaged and unable to grow new hair, but a small number of them may still produce fine hairs.
Will I Need Touch-Up Laser Hair Removal Treatments?
After you achieve the desired results from your laser hair removal treatment series, you may choose to undergo an occasional touch-up laser treatment if you notice increased hair growth down the line. Factors such as hormone fluctuations and natural regrowth may result in a small amount of hair coming back, but this can easily be reduced with a subsequent laser treatment.
